I’ve recently heard hepatitis C mentioned on NBC’s Up All Night, 30 Rock, and Saturday Night Live. Now, even the CW’s tween hit, Gossip Girl, has got in on the action. Is it good to have hepatitis C referenced in pop culture? Can this be seen as “awareness raising” on the part of TV networks or is it further stigmatizing the disease by turning it into a joke?
